What happened with the “Hungarian Facebook”, Hundub?

The “Hungarian Facebook”, started operating at the end of 2020 but failed almost immediately. Hundub “lived” only one year. By August 2021, it was already under tax execution procedure.

The registry court declared the company behind the social media site defunct in July. In September, it was ordered to be deleted from the registry. The domiciliation service provider withdrew its permit in February, hvg.hu reported.

Furthermore, nobody can get in touch with Csaba Pál, the former CEO of the Hundub firm, anymore. He does not pick up his phone and does not reply to emails or letters. Hundub shut down in August 2021. Before, there were multiple problems with it, from operation fails to illegal activities.

The original idea behind it was to create a platform for those banned or censored by Facebook and other social media sites, just like Trump’s Truth Social. During a certain period of time, it was popular among Hungarian rightist groups, even radical nationalists. For example, Mi Hazánk/Our Homeland, the Hungarian radical party, had many followers.
